Availability: 100 in stock

Description

Three very rare crash samples from the Air Force's XB-70 002 plane crash in Barstow, California in 1966, along with provenance for the pieces.
The three items consist of a portion of the filled expansion joints, a honeycomb structure from the inside of an engine inlet, and another honeycomb structure.
These items were a part of the collection of the Grissom Air Museum in Peru, Indiana, and come with a paper from the Curator of that museum, Mr. John Marsh, who drew the shapes and identifications on the back of the paper, along with the plane and location of the crash.
The expansion joint piece (oval with white on top) measures about 2.25" x 1".    The engine inlet piece (honeycomb on one side, raised metal pieces covered with desert dirt on the other side) measures about 1.5" x 1.5".    The other honeycomb structure piece (darker rectangular piece) measures about 1" x 1".
