    Vintage portrait photograph of a young Orson Wells, circa 1939. "Culver Pictures, Inc." stamp, "24749" stamp, and two other stamps obscured by paper tape, on verso.
    1939 would be a key year for Welles, who, upon the success of the CBS Radio show "The Mercury Theatre on the Air," Welles would sign with RKO Pictures, in August 1939, what had been called the greatest film contract offered to a filmmaker, paving the way to begin production on "Citizen Kane" (1941).
