A beleaguered dockside innkeeper (Dressler) tries to protect and raise her young adopted daughter, while loving and frequently fighting with an alcoholic fisherman (Beery) who resides at the inn. A wildly successful, sharp drama co-written by two successful female screenwriters at the height of their careers, Frances Marion and Marion Jackson.
